A PS4 that will not connect to Wi-Fi may fail to find the network, time out during the connection test, or drop shortly after connecting. A router restart fixes many of these cases, so begin there before changing console settings.
These steps apply to PS4, PS4 Slim, and PS4 Pro consoles using Wi-Fi.

Use this if your PS4 cannot see your network, rejects the password, fails the internet connection test, or disconnects during online play.
Restart your router and reconnect
A fresh router connection is the fastest first fix for PS4 Wi-Fi issues.
- Unplug the router from power. If you have a separate modem, unplug that too.
- Wait a full 60 seconds.
- Plug the modem and router back in and wait 2 to 3 minutes for the lights to settle.
- On PS4, open Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection > Use Wi-Fi.
- Select your network and enter the Wi-Fi password carefully because it is case-sensitive.
- Run Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection.
- Check whether sign-in, download, and upload tests pass.
If the PS4 works after the router restart, the router was probably stuck rather than the console being faulty.
Reset the network settings and check for interference
If the connection still fails, create a fresh Wi-Fi setup and look for signal problems.
- Go to Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection > Use Wi-Fi > Easy.
- Let the PS4 scan again instead of relying on a saved connection.
- If your network does not appear, check whether the router is broadcasting only 5 GHz.
- Move the PS4 or router closer together if possible.
- Remove large obstructions and keep the router away from microwaves, cordless phones, and other electronics.
- Try Custom setup and switch IP Address Settings back to Automatic if manual settings were used.
- If Automatic keeps failing, review whether your router needs a manual IP or DHCP reservation.
Older PS4 models can be more reliable on 2.4 GHz than 5 GHz at longer distances. Ethernet is still the best test if the router is nearby.
Compare with other devices
If phones and laptops also struggle on the same Wi-Fi, the issue is the router or internet service, not the PS4. Contact your ISP if a reboot does not restore normal service.
If only the PS4 drops during online play, pause downloads and streams on other devices. Shared bandwidth can make the console look unstable even when Wi-Fi is technically connected.
Check your router app or admin page for firmware updates. Router firmware bugs can cause intermittent Wi-Fi drops and are often fixed by a free update.
