Find the exact message and try universal fixes
Many HP errors clear after a clean restart, so do that before assuming the worst.
- Write down the full error text or take a photo of the printer screen.
- Turn the printer off with the power button, unplug it, and wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in, turn it on, and wait until startup fully finishes.
- Print a test page from Windows printer settings or from any Mac document.
- If the message returns, use the exact text or code to choose the right fix.
Match the message to the fix
Most HP messages fall into a few groups.
