Epson mobile printing has used two main app names: Epson iPrint on older models and Epson Smart Panel on newer ones. Both let you print, scan, check ink, and run maintenance from a phone. The correct app depends on your printer model.
Does this affect you?
Use this guide if you want to print or scan from iPhone or Android, choose between Epson iPrint and Smart Panel, or fix app discovery and communication errors.
Install and connect the app
After setup, the app should find the printer automatically when both devices are on the same Wi-Fi.
- Search for Epson Smart Panel first in the App Store or Google Play. If your model is not supported, use Epson iPrint.
- Make sure the printer is already connected to home Wi-Fi.
- Connect the phone to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the app and select the printer when it appears.
- If the app cannot find it, add manually by IP address from the printer network status page if the app offers that option.
Print and scan from the app
The app home screen usually includes print, scan, ink, and utility buttons.
- Tap Print Photos or Print Documents, choose a file from the phone, cloud storage, or camera roll, adjust layout and paper size, then print.
- Tap Scan, place the item on the scanner glass or document feeder, choose scan settings, and start the scan.
- Save scans as PDF or image files, then share them from the app.
- Use ink-level and maintenance areas for nozzle checks and head cleaning when output looks faded or streaky.
More control
App cannot find the printer
Confirm phone and printer are on the same non-guest Wi-Fi. If the router has separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz names, connect the phone to the same band the printer uses, often 2.4GHz.
No router nearby
Use Wi-Fi Direct from the printer network menu. Connect the phone to the printer temporary Wi-Fi network, then open the Epson app. Normal phone internet may pause while connected this way.
Communication error while printing
Wake the printer, confirm the phone did not switch to cellular or another Wi-Fi network, then retry. Restarting the printer and phone Wi-Fi can clear repeated communication errors.
Moving from iPrint to Smart Panel
The apps do not share saved printer entries. Add the printer again in the newer app.
