Roblox join failures can come from an outage, one broken experience, a blocked network, an outdated client, or corrupted cached files. Start by separating platform problems from device problems.
These steps apply to Roblox on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Xbox. Some cache steps are Windows-specific.

Use this if clicking Play gets stuck on loading, fails instantly, returns you to the home page, or shows a vague connection error before you enter the experience.
Check if it’s a Roblox-wide outage first
This takes less than a minute and prevents wasted troubleshooting.
- Open status.roblox.com on a phone or other device.
- Check game joins, login, and other core services.
- Search for current Roblox outage reports if the status page is delayed.
- Try joining a different popular experience.
- If other experiences work, the original experience is probably the issue.
- If Roblox confirms an outage, wait until the status page is clear.
A single overloaded experience can fail while the rest of Roblox works normally.
Fix it on your device
Most non-outage join failures are caused by a stale app, shaky network, VPN, or blocked connection.
- Fully close Roblox.
- On Windows, open Task Manager and end RobloxPlayerBeta.exe if it remains running.
- Restart Roblox or restart the device on mobile.
- Make sure Roblox is updated. PC and Mac update on launch; mobile updates through the app store.
- Switch networks if possible, such as Wi-Fi to mobile data or mobile data to Wi-Fi.
- Disable VPN while testing.
- Avoid school, workplace, or public Wi-Fi if it blocks game traffic.
If Roblox works on one network but never on another, the blocked network is the likely cause.
Parental controls, cache, and reinstall
If you manage the home network, check router parental controls and content filters. Some routers group Roblox with gaming or distraction-block categories.
On Windows, press Windows key + R, type %localappdata%Roblox, and press Enter. With Roblox fully closed, delete the contents of that folder. Roblox rebuilds it on next launch, and your account progress is not stored there.
If cache clearing does not help, uninstall Roblox and reinstall from roblox.com or your device’s app store. Account progress, Robux, and inventory are tied to Roblox servers.
