Roblox voice chat, officially called Spatial Voice, has more requirements than a normal game microphone. Your account must qualify, the experience must support voice, and the device must grant microphone permission.
These steps apply to Roblox on PC, mobile, and console where voice chat is available.

Use this if the mic icon does not appear, other players cannot hear you, or you cannot hear voice chat in a Roblox experience.
Confirm your account qualifies for voice chat
Eligibility is the most common reason voice chat does not appear at all.
- Open Roblox settings and check Account Info or Privacy for Age Verification.
- Complete age verification if it is not finished.
- Confirm the specific experience supports voice chat.
- Look for a microphone icon or voice chat note in the game.
- Open Settings > Privacy and make sure Voice Chat is enabled for the audience you want.
- If the account is registered as under 13, voice chat is not available.
Not every Roblox experience enables Spatial Voice. If voice works in one game and not another, the second game may not support it.
Fix mic and permission issues once voice chat is enabled
If the account qualifies but audio still fails, check device permissions and muting.
- On Windows, open Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone and allow Roblox or the browser you use.
- On iPhone or Android, open device settings for Roblox and allow Microphone.
- Inside the game, tap or click the microphone icon and make sure you are not muted.
- Test the microphone in another app such as voice memos or a video call.
- On mobile, close other apps that might be using the microphone.
- Fully close and reopen Roblox after changing microphone permission.
Roblox may not detect a permission change until the app is restarted.
When it is game-specific
If voice chat works in one supported experience but not another, the game creator may have disabled voice or restricted it for that place. That is not a device problem.
If the microphone fails in every app, fix the device microphone first. Roblox cannot use a microphone the operating system does not detect.
