eBay will not close an account that still has open orders, active listings, unresolved cases, or unpaid balances. Clear those first, then submit the account-closure request.
Does this affect you?
Use this for personal eBay.com accounts. Business seller accounts may need extra cleanup for listings, fees, and subscriptions.
Close your account through Account Settings
This is the official self-service route when the account is clear.
- Sign in to eBay.
- Open My eBay > Account > Personal Information, or find the Close Account help page from eBay Help.
- Choose Close my account.
- Review any open items eBay lists, such as active listings, unpaid orders, returns, disputes, or balances.
- Resolve those items before continuing.
- Confirm the closure request and enter your password if asked.
- Wait for eBay’s confirmation email. Processing may take a few days.
More control
Sellers need extra cleanup
End active listings in My eBay or Seller Hub, resolve returns and buyer cases, and pay outstanding seller fees before requesting closure.
Save records first
Once the account closes, feedback, purchase history, saved messages, and seller records may no longer be accessible. Save what you need before starting.
Closing may be unnecessary
If you may return later, remove saved payment methods and stop using the account instead. That keeps history and feedback intact.
