Discord gives you two different options: disable the account for a reversible break, or delete it permanently after a waiting period. Deletion is not instant, so you have a short window to change your mind.

Delete your account from Settings
This starts Discord’s permanent deletion process.
- Open Discord and select User Settings, the gear near your username.
- Go to My Account.
- Scroll to the account removal section.
- Choose Delete Account. If you are unsure, choose Disable Account instead.
- Enter the account password to confirm.
- Discord places the account on about a 14-day hold.
- Do not log back in during that period if you want deletion to finish.
More control
Transfer server ownership first
If you own a server, transfer ownership before deleting the account. Open Server Settings > Members, choose a trusted member, and transfer ownership so the server is not left unmanaged.
Request your data before deleting
Open User Settings > Privacy & Safety > Request Data before starting deletion. Discord data archives can take several days to prepare.
Disable is reversible
Disabling hides the account but keeps it intact. Logging back in restores it. Deleting becomes permanent after the hold, and after that you need a new account.
