Epson paper jams often come from misloaded paper, damp or curled sheets, overfilled trays, or a scrap hidden in the duplexer. Clearing the visible sheet is only part of the job; tiny torn pieces can keep the sensor reporting a jam.

Clear a visible jam
Turn the printer off before reaching inside so rollers do not pull while your fingers are near the paper path.
- Turn the printer off with the power button and unplug it if you need to reach deep inside.
- Open the top cover, rear access panel, or jam door for your model.
- Pull jammed paper gently in the direction it was feeding. Avoid yanking backward because the sheet can tear.
- Check input and output trays for a second crumpled sheet.
- Close all covers, reconnect power, and turn the printer on.
- Print a test page to confirm paper feeds cleanly.
Paper jam message but nothing is visible
Hidden scraps are common, especially in duplex models.
- Turn the printer off and check the duplexer or rear module if your model has one.
- Open every access point and gently feel along the paper path for tiny scraps.
- If nothing is found, unplug the printer for 60 seconds and restart it to reset paper sensors.
- Remove all paper from the tray, reload only 5 to 10 squared sheets, and set the guides snugly.
More control
Check paper condition
Damp, curled, very thin, or stuck-together sheets jam more often. Store paper flat in its wrapper and fan the stack before loading.
Do not overfill the tray
Stay below the tray capacity mark. Too much paper adds pressure and can pull multiple sheets at once.
Clean rollers if jams repeat
Dust and paper residue reduce roller grip. Follow Epson model-specific roller cleaning instructions using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water, never solvents.
