Tubi is free and ad-supported, but the app can still freeze, buffer, crash to the home screen, or hang on a black loading screen. The fix is usually a restart, network check, cache clear, reinstall, update, or waiting out a Tubi-side problem.
These steps apply to Tubi on Fire TV Stick, Roku, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Android TV, and similar streaming devices.

Use this if Tubi will not open, gets stuck loading, crashes during an episode, buffers constantly, or fails on one title while other apps seem normal.
Restart the app and streaming device
- Exit Tubi by pressing Home on the remote.
- On Fire TV, hold Home, select Tubi from recent apps, and close it if the option appears.
- On Roku, returning to Home is usually enough, but a device restart is more reliable after a freeze.
- Unplug the streaming device or smart TV from power.
- Wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, and let it fully start.
- Open Tubi and try the same title again.
This clears stuck app memory, which is the cause of many frozen loading screens and black-screen playback failures.
Check the internet connection
Tubi streams in real time. A weak connection can look like a Tubi problem even when the app itself is fine.
- Open Settings > Network on Roku, Fire TV, or your smart TV.
- Confirm the device is connected to Wi-Fi with a stable signal.
- If other streaming apps also buffer, unplug your router for one minute and reconnect it.
- Move the TV or streaming device closer to the router if possible.
- Use Ethernet if your device supports it.
- Pause large downloads or other 4K streams while testing.
If every streaming app struggles, fix Wi-Fi or router performance before reinstalling Tubi.
Clear Tubi cache or reinstall
- Fire TV: Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Tubi > Clear cache. If that fails, uninstall and reinstall Tubi.
- Roku: highlight Tubi, press Star, choose Remove channel, then reinstall from the Roku Channel Store.
- Samsung or LG smart TV: press and hold the Tubi icon, delete or uninstall it, then reinstall from the TV app store.
- Android TV: use Settings > Apps > Tubi to clear cache, clear data, or uninstall.
A free Tubi account is not required to watch, but signing back in restores your watchlist and continue-watching progress.
Ads, outages, updates, and one-device problems
If Tubi fails on multiple devices or the same title fails everywhere, search for a Tubi outage. A server-side issue usually resolves on Tubi’s end.
Because Tubi is ad-supported, playback can occasionally pause on a black screen while an ad fails to load. Wait 15 to 20 seconds. If playback does not resume, press Back and restart the title from your saved position.
Update Tubi and the streaming device operating system. On Roku, use Settings > System > System update. On Fire TV, check Settings > Applications and device updates. If Tubi works on your phone or browser but fails on one TV, remove and re-add that device from your Tubi account settings if you are signed in.
