Common Samsung Front Load Washer Problems and Fixes

Samsung front load washers often stop on the same few errors: 4C or 4E for water supply, DC or UE for balance, LE for leak detection, and dE for door lock trouble.

These steps apply to Samsung WF-series front load washers with access to the water valves, hoses, and lower drain filter area.

Does this affect you?

Use this if a Samsung washer stops filling, will not spin, reports a leak, or refuses to unlock after a wash.

4C or 4E: water supply error

  1. Confirm both hot and cold water valves behind the washer are fully open.
  2. Check that inlet hoses are not kinked, crushed, or loosely connected.
  3. Turn off the water and remove the hoses from the back of the washer.
  4. Clean the small inlet mesh screens with a soft brush.
  5. Reconnect hoses firmly and turn water back on.
  6. Check general home water pressure if other fixtures are also slow.

DC or UE: unbalanced load

  • Pause the cycle and spread clothing evenly around the drum.
  • Do not wash one bulky item by itself.
  • Mix heavy items with smaller items so the load balances naturally.
  • Use a bubble level on top of the washer.
  • Adjust the front leveling feet until the washer is level in both directions.

The steps below involve basic user checks only. Unplug the appliance before inspecting, cleaning, or removing accessible parts. If the appliance uses water, shut off the water supply before working near hoses or filters.

  • Do not open sealed housings, remove internal panels, bypass safety switches, or force stuck parts.
  • Keep towels and a shallow pan ready when opening any drain or water filter area.
  • If the appliance is under warranty, smells electrical, has a damaged cord, leaks heavily, or you are unsure, stop and contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.

LE leak detected or dE door will not unlock

  • For LE, turn power off and check under and behind the washer for water.
  • Tighten supply and drain hose connections if they are damp.
  • Clean the front drain pump filter because a partial clog can create backup and false leak behavior.
  • For dE, wait 2 to 3 minutes after the cycle ends before trying the door.
  • Power the washer off at the wall for 5 minutes if the lock stays stuck.
  • Check whether Child Lock is active on the display.

Run Samsung’s drum cleaning cycle on the schedule recommended by the washer. Front loaders trap moisture in the gasket and drum, and regular cleaning helps prevent odors, buildup, and sensor problems.

Leave the door slightly open after laundry so the gasket dries. Wipe standing water from the rubber folds when you finish the last load of the day.

Call for service if 4C returns with confirmed water pressure and clean screens, LE appears with no visible leak, or the door stays locked after a full power reset.
