LG front load washers commonly stop for a few repeat reasons: OE drain errors, LE motor errors, UE unbalanced loads, and doors that stay locked after the cycle.
These steps apply to LG WM-series and similar front load washers, including stacked setups when the lower front access panel is reachable.

Use this if your LG washer will not drain, will not spin, shows OE, LE, or UE, or leaves wet laundry trapped behind a locked door.
OE error: washer will not drain
- Check the drain hose behind the washer for kinks or crushing.
- Open the small drain pump filter door near the lower front of the cabinet.
- Place towels and a shallow pan under the filter area.
- Slowly drain remaining water and remove the filter cap.
- Clear coins, lint, hair, and debris from the filter.
- Check the household standpipe or drain if other fixtures are draining slowly.
- Close the filter firmly and run a rinse-and-spin cycle.
The steps below involve basic user checks only. Unplug the appliance before inspecting, cleaning, or removing accessible parts. If the appliance uses water, shut off the water supply before working near hoses or filters.
- Do not open sealed housings, remove internal panels, bypass safety switches, or force stuck parts.
- Keep towels and a shallow pan ready when opening any drain or water filter area.
- If the appliance is under warranty, smells electrical, has a damaged cord, leaks heavily, or you are unsure, stop and contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.
Water in the filter area may still be warm shortly after a cycle. Give the washer a few minutes before opening the filter.
LE motor error or UE unbalanced load
- For LE, turn the washer off at the wall for 5 minutes, then restart. A power glitch can trigger a temporary motor error.
- If LE returns immediately on every cycle, stop using the washer and call a technician because the motor or sensor may be detecting real resistance.
- For UE, pause the cycle and spread clothing evenly around the drum.
- Avoid washing one heavy item alone, such as a single comforter or pillow.
- Use a level on top of the washer and adjust the feet until it is level side-to-side and front-to-back.
Door will not unlock after the cycle
- Wait a few minutes after the cycle ends. LG washers keep the door locked while the drum slows or water drains.
- Power the washer off and back on.
- Try the model’s unlock command, such as holding Start/Pause for 3 seconds if your manual lists that shortcut.
- Unplug the washer for 10 minutes if the electronic lock seems stuck.
- If the door remains locked with wet laundry inside, the door lock assembly may need service.
Front loaders hold moisture in the gasket and drum. Run LG’s Tub Clean cycle empty with a washer cleaner as recommended, wipe water and lint from gasket folds, and leave the door slightly open after the last load so the interior dries.
Call a technician if OE returns after a clean filter and clear hose, LE returns after every reset, or the door lock physically will not release.
