A Samsung account is separate from your phone lock-screen PIN. It controls Samsung Cloud, Find My Mobile, Galaxy Store purchases, SmartThings, and syncing across Galaxy devices.
Does this affect you?
Use this for Samsung accounts on Galaxy phones, tablets, watches, SmartThings, and account.samsung.com when the password is forgotten or rejected.
Reset your password at account.samsung.com
Use any browser, even without a Galaxy device nearby.
- Go to account.samsung.com and choose Sign in.
- Select Forgot your ID/password.
- Choose Find password.
- Enter your Samsung account ID, usually your email address.
- Choose verification by registered email or phone.
- Enter the code when it arrives.
- Create and confirm a new password.
- Sign in again on Samsung services and Galaxy devices.
Reset from a signed-in Galaxy device
This is faster if another device still has access.
- On the signed-in Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings.
- Tap your Samsung account name at the top.
- Open Security and privacy.
- Choose Password and follow the prompts.
- Verify with PIN, fingerprint, password, or two-step verification if asked.
- Set the new password and use it on the locked-out device.

Recovery codes go only to current contacts
Samsung sends reset codes to the email or phone on file. If those are outdated, contact Samsung Support for manual ownership verification.
Check spam and two-step verification
Search for Samsung account in spam or promotions if the email does not arrive. If two-step verification is enabled, you may still need an authenticator code or saved backup code after resetting.
Update recovery details
After access returns, open account.samsung.com > Security and privacy and confirm the recovery email and phone number are current.
