Robinhood accounts can hold stocks, options, crypto, cash, and banking links. Two-factor authentication makes a stolen password alone insufficient to access the account.

Use this for Robinhood on iPhone or Android when you want stronger login security or need to recover after losing a 2FA method.
Turn on two-factor authentication
Save backup codes during setup.
- Open the Robinhood app.
- Tap the account icon and open Settings.
- Go to Security and privacy.
- Choose Two-factor authentication.
- Select Authentication app or Text message. An authenticator app is generally stronger than SMS.
- For an authenticator app, scan the QR code and enter the six-digit code.
- For text message, enter the phone number and confirm the text code.
- Save the backup codes somewhere other than the phone.
Recover access after losing your 2FA method
Use backup codes first if you have them.
- Enter your username and password on the Robinhood sign-in screen.
- At the two-factor prompt, choose Trouble with two-factor authentication or Use backup code if shown.
- Enter one saved backup code to sign in.
- If you have no backup code, complete Robinhood’s identity verification process.
- After access returns, set up two-factor authentication again and save fresh backup codes.
More control
Use an authenticator app when possible
SMS can be vulnerable to SIM-swap attacks, where someone moves your number to another SIM. Authenticator apps do not rely on your phone number.
Store backup codes safely
Do not keep backup codes only on the same phone that generates your codes. Use a password manager secure note or a printed copy in a safe place.
Review alerts and sessions
Turn on login or new-device alerts if available, and review active sessions under account security so unfamiliar access is caught quickly.
