OfferUp Account Suspended: How to Get It Reinstated

An OfferUp suspension freezes normal buying, selling, messaging, and listings until support reviews the account. Some suspensions are automatic fraud flags, while others come from policy or identity-verification issues.

Does this affect you?

Use this for OfferUp buyer or seller accounts in the app or on the web, including accounts that use TruYou identity verification.

Find the likely reason

Do this before appealing so your message answers the actual issue.

  1. Check the email tied to OfferUp for a suspension or disabled-account notice.
  2. Open the app and try to sign in. The suspension screen may show a brief reason.
  3. Review recent activity for prohibited items, off-platform payment requests, canceled deals, reports from users, or unfinished TruYou verification.
  4. If the notice says suspicious activity or security, the suspension may be an automated fraud-system flag rather than a manual judgment about one listing.
  5. Collect useful details, such as account email, approximate suspension date, listing names, order numbers, and payout amounts.

Appeal the suspension

A new account is likely to be linked and suspended, so use the official appeal route.

  1. Use Contact Us or Help in the app if the suspension message allows it.
  2. If the app will not let you in, use OfferUp’s support contact form on the website.
  3. Identify the account by email address and include the approximate suspension date.
  4. Give a short, factual explanation of what happened and what you corrected if it was a mistake.
  5. If TruYou verification caused the issue, be ready to complete photo ID and live selfie checks through the app.
  6. Wait for support. Responses may take from a day to over a week, and one polite follow-up in the same thread is enough.

More control

Ask about payouts separately

If OfferUp upholds the suspension, pending payouts may still need separate handling. Ask support in writing how completed sales and remaining balances will be paid.

Keep deals on-platform

Requests to move payment or conversation to text, email, Venmo, Cash App, or another off-platform method are a common suspension trigger.

Use accurate listing photos and descriptions

Repeated reports for misleading condition, stock photos, wrong item details, or unavailable items can build a pattern even if no single listing causes the suspension.

Avoid duplicate accounts

OfferUp can connect accounts by device, phone number, payment method, and behavior. Creating another account after suspension usually extends the problem.
