Nintendo Account suspensions are handled differently from ordinary password problems. There usually is not an in-app appeal button; you need the exact message, your account details, and Nintendo Support for your region.
Does this affect you?
Use this for Nintendo Accounts used on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo eShop, and Nintendo Switch Online when sign-in says the account was suspended for violating the Nintendo Account User Agreement.
Find out why and contact Nintendo Support
Nintendo reviews suspension cases through support, not through a self-service unlock page.
- Read the exact suspension wording on the console or at accounts.nintendo.com. Write down any error code or quoted policy message.
- Go to Nintendo’s official support site for your region, such as en-americas-support.nintendo.com in the United States.
- Search the support site for the error message or suspension wording.
- Contact Nintendo through the listed chat or phone option for your region.
- Have your Nintendo Account ID, account email, console serial number if relevant, purchase receipts, and payment details ready.
- Ask whether the suspension is temporary or permanent. Temporary cases may lift after the underlying issue is resolved, while Nintendo states permanent suspensions are final.
If the account was compromised instead
A hacked Nintendo Account can look like a suspension from the outside, but the fix is security cleanup.
- Go to accounts.nintendo.com and sign in if you can.
- Change the password immediately.
- Open Sign-in and security settings and check Sign-in history for devices or locations you do not recognize.
- Use Sign out from all devices to remove active sessions.
- Register a phone number, set up a passkey, or enable two-step verification from the same security settings.
- If you cannot sign in because the email or password was changed, use Nintendo’s account recovery process through support.
More control
Unauthorized purchase sources can cause trouble
Digital codes or games bought from unofficial marketplaces can be linked to fraud. If Nintendo traces a code to a stolen payment method or unauthorized reseller, the account may be reviewed or suspended.
Purchases may be affected
If the suspended account owns digital games or DLC and is primary on a family Switch, other profiles on that console may also lose access to those purchases.
Deletion recovery is separate
If you requested Nintendo Account deletion and changed your mind during the waiting period, use Nintendo’s account reactivation instructions. That is different from a policy suspension.
