IT Security Specialist

Job Overview

Tech Support Office is seeking a dedicated and security-focused IT Security Specialist to help protect enterprise systems, networks, applications, and cloud infrastructure from cyber threats. In this role, you will monitor security events, identify vulnerabilities, implement security controls, and respond to incidents while ensuring compliance with industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor networks, servers, and cloud environments for security threats and suspicious activity.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, alerts, and vulnerabilities.
• Implement and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Configure and manage firewalls, endpoint protection, antivirus, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Manage identity and access controls using Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Conduct security audits and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Assist with disaster recovery, backup security, and business continuity planning.
• Analyze system logs and security reports to identify potential risks.
• Support secure configuration of Windows, Linux, cloud platforms, and networking devices.
• Educate employees on cybersecurity awareness and security best practices.
• Maintain documentation for security processes, incident reports, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with IT, DevOps, networking, and cloud teams to strengthen infrastructure security.
• Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in IT security, cybersecurity, or information security.
• Experience securing Windows and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls, and network security fundamentals.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, and identity management.
• Experience with vulnerability management and security monitoring.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, or similar security platforms.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 security.
• Experience securing Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud environments.
• Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, IDS, and IPS technologies.
• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus or Qualys.
• Knowledge of security frameworks including NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, and Zero Trust architecture.
• PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting experience.
• Security certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CISSP, CEH, AZ-500, or SC-200 are highly desirable.
