A home printer cannot physically print larger than the paper it accepts, but you can still print a poster, sign, map, or diagram by tiling it across several Letter or A4 sheets. The software splits the image into overlapping pages that you trim and assemble.

Use this guide if you need a large printout from a standard printer, such as a poster, classroom sign, sewing pattern, blueprint, or large chart.
Print as a tiled poster from a PDF
PDF tools are usually the easiest way to tile large pages.
- Open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF app with poster printing.
- Choose File > Print.
- Select Poster or Tile large pages.
- Set tile scale to 100 percent unless you intentionally want it larger or smaller.
- Enable overlap so pages have a small shared edge for trimming and alignment.
- Print a preview or first few sheets before committing to the whole poster.
Use image or office app scaling
If your file is not a PDF, export it to PDF first or use the app poster/tile option if available.
- In the original app, set the page size or canvas to the intended large size.
- Export or save as PDF.
- Use poster/tile printing from the PDF app.
- Trim margins and line up the overlap marks before taping.

For patterns, templates, or measured diagrams, print at 100 percent and verify a test measurement with a ruler.
Printers cannot print to the physical edge unless borderless is supported
Most tiled pages include margins that need trimming. Borderless can reduce trimming only if the printer supports it for that paper size.
Use heavier paper for posters
Slightly heavier paper assembles flatter and resists wrinkles better than thin copy paper.
