A Wyze video doorbell installation has two parts: pair it to the Wyze app and Wi-Fi, then mount it at the door. Do the pairing indoors first while the doorbell is easy to handle.
These steps apply to Wyze Video Doorbell and Wyze Video Doorbell Pro using the Wyze app on iPhone or Android.

Use this if you are replacing an existing wired doorbell or installing the battery-capable Wyze Video Doorbell Pro. The standard wired Wyze Video Doorbell needs doorbell wiring; the Pro model can run on battery.
Pair the doorbell in the Wyze app
- Open the Wyze app.
- Tap the + icon.
- Choose Add Device.
- Select Doorbell and then your exact model.
- Power the doorbell with the included USB cable for setup.
- Wait for the doorbell to say it is ready to connect.
- Follow the app prompts.
- Scan the QR code displayed on your phone with the doorbell camera, or enter Wi-Fi details manually.
- Wait for the app to confirm the doorbell is online.
- Open Live View to confirm it works.
Once the doorbell pairs successfully, you can mount it knowing the camera and Wi-Fi setup are working.
Mount wire-free on battery power
Use this only for Wyze Video Doorbell Pro or another Wyze model that explicitly supports battery operation.
- Confirm you have the battery-capable Pro model.
- Charge the doorbell fully with USB before final mounting.
- Choose a mounting height around 48 inches from the ground.
- Avoid direct sunlight where possible to reduce glare.
- Hold the bracket in place and mark screw holes.
- Drill pilot holes.
- Secure the bracket with included screws.
- Snap the doorbell onto the bracket until it clicks.
- Confirm Live View still works after mounting.
Battery life depends on motion frequency, temperature, and settings. Expect to recharge periodically, often every 1 to 3 months in active locations.
Mount wired to an existing doorbell chime
This keeps the doorbell powered from the existing low-voltage transformer and may preserve chime behavior.
- Turn off the breaker that powers the doorbell transformer.
- Press the old doorbell button to confirm the chime no longer rings.
- Remove the old doorbell button.
- Take a photo of the two existing wires.
- Connect the wires to the Wyze mounting bracket terminals according to the included diagram.
- Screw the bracket to the door frame.
- Snap the Wyze doorbell onto the bracket.
- Turn the breaker back on.
- Test app notifications and the existing chime.
Doorbell wiring is usually low voltage, often around 16 to 24 volts, but it is still live wiring. If you are not comfortable identifying the transformer circuit or handling the wires, hire an electrician.
If the chime does not work after wiring, check the transformer rating against Wyze requirements. If Live View lags or drops, inspect Wi-Fi signal in device settings and consider an extender near the entryway. Use Detection Zones and lower sensitivity if street traffic triggers constant alerts.
