Chrome blocks pop-ups because many of them are ads, fake alerts, or scam windows. Some legitimate sites still need pop-ups for printing, bank verification, booking tools, downloads, or payment windows. The safest fix is to allow pop-ups only for the site you trust.

Use this for Google Chrome on Windows, Mac, or Android when a trusted site needs a pop-up window and Chrome keeps blocking it.
Allow pop-ups right when Chrome blocks one
This is the fastest method when you are already on the page.
- Look near the right side of the address bar for the blocked pop-up icon. It may look like a small window with an X.
- Click the icon.
- Choose Always allow pop-ups and redirects from the current site.
- Click Done.
- Reload the page if the pop-up does not appear immediately.
Some sites trigger the pop-up only during a fresh page load or after you repeat the original action, such as clicking Print or Continue.
Allow pop-ups through Chrome settings
Use settings when you do not see the blocked icon or want to add the exception ahead of time.
- Click the three-dot menu in Chrome and open Settings.
- Choose Privacy and security.
- Open Site settings.
- Scroll to Pop-ups and redirects.
- Next to the not-allowed or blocked list, click Add for sites allowed to send pop-ups.
- Enter the site address, such as https://example.com, and save it.
More control
Avoid allowing every site
Chrome can be set to allow pop-ups from all sites, but that brings back more ads and scam windows. Most people should keep the global blocker on and add exceptions only for sites they know.
Remove an exception later
Return to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects. Find the site under the allow list, open its three-dot menu, and remove it.
Do not trust fake infection warnings
A full-screen page claiming your device is infected and demanding a phone call is almost always a scam. Allowing pop-ups will not fix it. Close the tab or force-quit Chrome if the page will not close.
Chrome on Android
On Android, tap the three-dot menu, open Settings > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects, then manage the setting or site exceptions from there.
