Fubo Not Working? Fix Buffering, Crashes, and Login Issues

Fubo is built around live TV and sports, so buffering or crashes usually happen at the most annoying time. The app may freeze during a game, refuse to sign in, or close as soon as you select a channel.

These steps apply to Fubo on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Android TV, and fubo.tv in a browser. Start with the app and device, then move to the network and account limits.

Does this affect you?

Use this guide if Fubo buffers constantly, crashes, fails to open, signs you out, or will not play a live channel. The most common causes are a stale app session, unstable Wi-Fi, a device app bug, or too many simultaneous streams on the account.

Restart the app and device

A clean restart is the fastest first fix, especially when Fubo worked recently and then suddenly stopped.

  1. Close the Fubo app completely. On Roku, press Home and reopen Fubo rather than resuming it. On Fire TV, stop the app from the app management screen if available.
  2. Unplug the streaming device or smart TV from power for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and let it fully restart.
  4. Open Fubo again and sign in if prompted.

If Fubo starts working after this, the issue was probably temporary app memory or cached playback data.

Fix weak or overloaded internet

Live sports need a consistent connection. A connection that handles ordinary web browsing can still struggle with live video.

  • Pause other heavy activity on your network, including 4K streams, large downloads, cloud backups, and video calls.
  • Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if your TV or streaming device supports it.
  • If you must use Wi-Fi, move closer to the router or reduce walls and electronics between the router and TV.
  • Restart the router by unplugging it for one full minute, then waiting for all lights to stabilize.
  • Test another streaming app. If everything buffers, the problem is your network, not just Fubo.

Update or reinstall Fubo

If Fubo works on your phone but not on the TV, the TV app may be outdated or corrupted.

  1. Open the device’s app store and search for Fubo.
  2. Install any available update.
  3. If the app is still broken, delete Fubo.
  4. Restart the device.
  5. Reinstall Fubo from the app store and sign back in.

On some smart TVs, reinstalling is more effective than simply closing the app because it clears damaged app data.

Check stream limits, outages, DVR, and cache

Fubo plans limit how many screens can stream at one time. If someone else is watching on another TV, phone, tablet, or browser, you may hit the account limit. Sign out of unused devices from your Fubo account settings, including Connected Devices if available.

During major sporting events, the problem may be on Fubo’s side. Check Fubo’s official support or social channels and a third-party outage tracker before spending too long changing your setup.

If a Cloud DVR recording will not play right after the broadcast ends, wait a few minutes. Recordings may need processing time. If one specific recording never plays while other recordings do, that recording may be damaged and should be deleted.

On devices that allow it, clear the Fubo app cache from Settings > Apps > Fubo > Clear cache. This keeps your account but removes temporary files that can slow or freeze the app.
