Canon Printer Not Printing: How to Fix It

Canon printer not printing from a computer

If a Canon printer has no obvious error code but jobs sit in the queue or disappear, the usual causes are a stuck print queue, a lost Wi-Fi connection, or a driver that needs to be reinstalled. Start with the queue and network before replacing ink or hardware.

Does this affect you?

Use this guide when the printer is powered on, the screen looks normal, but nothing prints from Windows or Mac.

Clear the queue and check connection

This resolves many Canon no-print cases in a few minutes.

  1. On Windows, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the Canon printer, open the queue, and cancel stuck jobs.
  2. On Mac, open System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select the Canon printer, and clear the queue.
  3. Check the printer display for Wi-Fi signal bars or a network icon.
  4. From the printer menu, check LAN settings and confirm it shows an IP address rather than not connected.
  5. Restart the printer, wait 20 seconds, and send a small test document.
  6. If it still fails, restart the computer to clear spooler state.

Reinstall the Canon driver

Use this when the queue is empty and network status looks correct but jobs still fail.

  1. Remove the printer from Windows Printers & scanners or macOS Printers & Scanners.
  2. Go to Canon Support and search the exact printer model printed on the device.
  3. Download the full driver and software package for your operating system.
  4. Run the installer and choose the correct USB or Wi-Fi connection type.
  5. Print a test page, and use Canon utility tools such as nozzle check or printhead alignment if available.
