Wyze Cam Plus is Wyze’s paid camera subscription. A Wyze camera can still show live video and send basic alerts for free, especially with a microSD card installed, but Cam Plus adds smarter cloud alerts and remote event history.
This applies to Wyze Cam models managed in the Wyze app, including cameras eligible for Cam Plus and older cameras that may still have Cam Plus Lite.

Use this if you are deciding whether to pay for Wyze cloud recording or rely on the free tier with local storage. The answer depends on whether you need remote cloud history and AI detection.
What works free with or without an SD card
- Live view works from the Wyze app without a subscription.
- Basic motion and sound alerts work, although free alert limits and cooldowns can apply.
- A microSD card can record locally inside the camera.
- Local footage stays on the card and does not require Cam Plus.
- For many homes, free alerts plus a card are enough for basic monitoring.
Local storage is useful, but reviewing footage may be less convenient than cloud event clips. You also need to make sure the card is installed, healthy, and large enough for the recording mode you choose.
What Cam Plus adds
- Unlimited cloud event recording for motion events covered by the plan.
- AI detection labels such as person, package, vehicle, and pet, depending on camera and current Wyze features.
- Remote event review without removing the microSD card.
- Fewer generic motion alerts because the app can distinguish more event types.
- Per-camera and unlimited-camera plan options, depending on current Wyze pricing.
Cam Plus Lite was a limited pay-what-you-want style plan, but it closed to new sign-ups and newer camera models in 2022. If you are setting up a new Wyze camera now, plan around the regular free tier, microSD recording, or paid Cam Plus.
Subscribe, check your plan, or cancel
- Open the Wyze app.
- Tap Account.
- Open Services.
- Choose Cam Plus.
- Select a per-camera plan or account-wide plan if available.
- Use the same Services area to see covered cameras or cancel.
A microSD card and Cam Plus can work together. Many people use the card for continuous local backup and Cam Plus for cloud event alerts they can quickly pull up from anywhere.
Watch the math if you have multiple cameras. Per-camera pricing can get expensive, while an unlimited plan may become cheaper after two or three cameras. New cameras may include a trial, so check Services before subscribing.
