Alexa Announcements send a one-way message to Echo devices in your household. They are handy for dinner calls, leaving reminders, and quick house-wide updates.
These steps apply to Amazon Echo devices connected to the same household in the Alexa app.

Use this if you want one spoken message to play on every Echo at once instead of walking room to room. Announcements are free with Echo devices.
Send an announcement by voice
- Stand near any Echo in the household.
- Say Alexa, announce [your message].
- For example, say Alexa, announce dinner is ready.
- Wait for the chime.
- Alexa plays the message on household Echo devices that can receive it.
Keep the message short because Alexa repeats what you say after the trigger phrase. To send to one room, say Alexa, tell [device name] that [message].
Send an announcement from the Alexa app
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap Communicate.
- Tap the microphone icon or announcement option.
- Choose Announcement.
- Type or dictate the message.
- Tap Send.
This is useful when you are away from an Echo or want to type a clear message.
Automate an announcement with a routine
- Open the Alexa app.
- Go to More > Routines.
- Tap +.
- Choose a trigger under When this happens, such as time, phrase, or smart-home event.
- Under Add action, choose Alexa Says.
- Pick Custom and type the message.
- Choose the devices that should play it.
- Save the routine.
Announcements play at each Echo’s current volume. If they are too loud or quiet, adjust the individual Echo volume. A muted microphone or device communication setting can prevent audio playback, though an Echo Show may still display text.
Announcements are not translated between languages. If a household has devices set to different languages, the spoken message stays as you sent it.
