Wyze Rules let cameras, plugs, bulbs, sensors, and other Wyze devices react automatically. A rule can run on a schedule or when another device detects something.
These steps apply to the Wyze app on iPhone and Android for supported Wyze Cams, plugs, bulbs, sensors, and other devices.
Does this affect you?
Use this if you want a light to turn on when a camera sees motion, a plug to run at sunset, or several Wyze actions to happen without opening the app. A Rule is automatic; a Shortcut is a manual one-tap action.
Create a schedule-based rule
- Open the Wyze app.
- Tap the Home tab.
- Tap the + icon.
- Choose Rules, or open Rules from the app menu.
- Tap Add Rule.
- Choose Set a Schedule.
- Pick the time and days.
- Tap Add Action.
- Choose the device and action, such as turning a plug on or changing bulb brightness.
- Name the rule.
- Tap Save or the checkmark.
The rule now runs at the scheduled time without your phone needing to be open.
Create a rule triggered by another device
- Open Rules.
- Tap Add Rule.
- Choose This Device Does Something or similar wording.
- Select the trigger device, such as a Wyze Cam or contact sensor.
- Choose the event, such as Motion Detected or Sensor Opened.
- Tap Add Action.
- Choose what Wyze should do in response.
- Add more actions if needed.
- Save the rule.
For example, a driveway camera can detect motion at night and turn on a porch light connected to a Wyze Plug.
Shortcuts, conflicts, and troubleshooting
Use a Shortcut if you want a one-tap action, such as turning off every light manually. Shortcuts and Rules can exist side by side.
If two rules control the same device in opposite ways, the most recently triggered rule wins. Review Rules by device when a plug or light behaves unpredictably.
If a rule does not run, confirm the trigger device is online, its firmware is current, and the rule has not been toggled off. Weak Wi-Fi can delay or drop triggers, especially for cameras and sensors far from the router.
