Ring Quick Replies play a short pre-recorded message when you do not answer a doorbell alert in time. They are useful for deliveries, visitors, and moments when you cannot talk live.
These steps apply to Ring Video Doorbell models with two-way talk using the Ring app on iPhone or Android.

Use this if you want your doorbell to say something like please leave the package at the door when you miss a notification. Quick Replies work without a subscription, but reviewing recorded video afterward can require Ring Protect.
Turn on Quick Replies
- Open the Ring app.
- Tap Devices.
- Select your doorbell.
- Tap the Smart Responses tile.
- Tap Quick Replies.
- Turn Quick Replies on.
- If you do not see Smart Responses, check the doorbell settings for Quick Replies or Smart Responses.
After this, Ring can play a default message if you do not answer during the response window.
Choose replies and timing
- Stay in the Quick Replies settings.
- Review preset reply categories such as We’ll be right there, Please leave the package, or No solicitors.
- Turn on the replies you want available.
- Turn off replies you do not want used.
- Set the response delay if the app offers that option.
- Ask someone to press the doorbell while you do not answer.
- Confirm the correct message plays through the doorbell speaker.
Ring Quick Replies use fixed presets. They do not let you record a custom greeting for this feature; use live two-way talk if you need a custom message.
Useful settings and troubleshooting
If your Ring plan includes package detection, pair it with a package-focused reply so delivery drivers hear the right instruction automatically.
Ring Quick Replies are separate from Alexa announcements. Enable the Ring skill in Alexa if you want Echo devices to announce that someone is at the door so you can answer live before Quick Replies trigger.
If Quick Replies is missing, update the Ring app and confirm your specific doorbell model supports the feature. A Ring Protect plan is not required just to enable Quick Replies, but it is needed for some recorded-video review features.
