Nest thermostats can follow a schedule you build manually, and Nest Learning Thermostat models can also learn a schedule from your adjustments. Know which mode is active so they do not fight each other.
These steps apply to Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat models controlled through the Google Home app.

Use this if you want different temperatures at different times of day instead of adjusting the thermostat by hand. Every Nest model can use a manual schedule, while Auto-Schedule applies to Nest Learning Thermostat models.
Build a manual schedule
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the thermostat tile.
- Tap Schedule.
- Tap the + icon.
- Choose the time.
- Choose the days the block applies to.
- Set the target temperature.
- Repeat for morning, daytime, evening, and overnight blocks as needed.
- Tap an existing block to edit or delete it.
- Drag timeline markers if your app view allows fine-tuning.
Changes usually sync to the thermostat within a minute or two. The thermostat display should show the next scheduled change once the schedule is active.
Use Auto-Schedule on Nest Learning Thermostat
Auto-Schedule learns from your manual adjustments over the first week or two.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the thermostat tile.
- Tap the gear icon.
- Find Auto-Schedule.
- Turn it on.
- For the next week or two, adjust the temperature by hand when you naturally want it warmer or cooler.
- Review the learned schedule under the Schedule tab.
If you already built a manual schedule, turn Auto-Schedule off first. Otherwise Nest may quietly change blocks as it keeps learning.
Check Eco and override behavior
Eco Temperatures act as an energy-saving backstop when Nest thinks nobody is home or when you manually switch to Eco. Adjust that range under Settings > Eco Temperatures.
For multi-zone homes with more than one Nest thermostat, each thermostat has its own schedule. Set them separately; there is not always a copy-to-all option.
If a schedule block does not seem to run, check for Auto-Schedule, Home/Away Assist, Eco mode, or a manual hold. A manual temperature change usually lasts only until the next scheduled block, then Nest returns to the schedule.
