Discord screen share does not always include audio automatically. On Windows, a small Share Sound toggle is often the whole fix. On Mac, system audio may require a current Discord version or extra routing because macOS restricts audio capture.
These steps apply to Discord desktop on Windows and Mac in voice channels and video calls.

Use this if people can see your stream but cannot hear the video, game, browser, or music you are sharing.
Turn on Share Sound on Windows
- Click the Screen icon in the voice channel toolbar.
- Choose the app window or screen you want to share.
- Look for the Share Sound checkbox in the sharing panel.
- Make sure it is checked before starting.
- If the stream is already live, open the small settings gear on the preview and enable sound there.
- Ask someone in the call to confirm audio after a few seconds.
If Share Sound is missing or grayed out, quit and reopen Discord so it can update.
Fix system audio sharing on Mac
- Update Discord first from the Discord menu or by restarting the app.
- Start screen share and look for Share Sound.
- If the option is not available, use a virtual audio driver such as BlackHole.
- In macOS Sound settings, create a Multi-Output Device that includes your speakers and the virtual driver.
- In Discord Voice & Video settings, choose the appropriate input if your routing requires it.
Current Discord versions have improved Mac audio sharing, but older setups may still need virtual routing.
Check mixer, DRM, and listener device
On Windows, right-click the speaker icon and open Volume Mixer. Make sure the app or game you are sharing is not muted or set very low.
Some games and DRM-protected video services block audio capture. If sound works for everything except one protected app or streaming site, Discord may not be allowed to capture it.
If the viewer is on Discord mobile, have them check that the stream is not muted and that their phone is not in silent mode or suppressing in-app sound.
