Roku has several hidden diagnostic screens opened by button sequences from the Home screen. They are not one single secret menu, and they can change between Roku OS versions.
These screens can show Wi-Fi signal numbers, packet loss, temperature, memory, paired remotes, and other diagnostics useful when normal menus are too simplified.
Does this affect you?
Use this if you want deeper diagnostics on a Roku streaming player or Roku TV. Viewing these screens is usually harmless, but avoid changing settings you do not understand.
Open useful hidden screens
Start from the Roku Home screen and press the buttons fairly quickly.
- Wireless secret screen: press Home five times, then Up, Down, Up, Down, Up. This shows signal strength, antenna/channel details, and glitch or packet-loss rates.
- Platform secret screen: press Home five times, then Fast Forward, Play/Pause, Rewind, Play/Pause, Fast Forward. This shows hardware stats such as CPU temperature, memory use, remote details, and linked submenus.
Press Back to leave a diagnostic screen or Home to return fully to the Roku home screen. If nothing opens, return Home and repeat the sequence with shorter pauses.
Use normal menus when enough
- Settings > System > About shows model, software version, serial number, and basic device details.
- Settings > Network > Check connection gives a supported network test with a simple signal rating.
- Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Factory reset is the supported path for wiping Roku.
The regular menus cover what most people need without memorizing button combinations.
What the screens are useful for
The wireless screen is helpful when Roku says Wi-Fi is connected but streaming still buffers. Raw signal and packet-loss numbers can reveal a weak or unstable connection that bars hide.
The platform screen helps with overheating, memory, paired remote battery levels, and low-level device status. Roku support agents may ask for some of this information during troubleshooting.
A note about unofficial menus
Because these screens are undocumented, exact sequences and contents can differ by Roku OS version and device model. Do not confuse diagnostic sequences with restart shortcuts. Viewing information is fine; changing unknown values can make troubleshooting harder.
