If Peacock fails only on a Vizio TV while other apps work, the problem is usually the Peacock app installation, SmartCast software, or a Peacock service/account issue rather than TV hardware.
These steps apply to Peacock on Vizio SmartCast TVs.
Does this affect you?
Use this if Peacock will not launch, crashes back to SmartCast, buffers on every show, or plays on other devices but not your Vizio TV.
Uninstall and reinstall Peacock
- From the SmartCast home screen, highlight Peacock.
- Open the options menu with the down arrow or options icon, depending on the remote.
- Choose Delete or Uninstall and confirm.
- Open the Vizio App Store or SmartCast app area.
- Search for Peacock and reinstall it.
- Sign back in.
A reinstall forces a clean app download and clears corrupted cache, which is the most common cause of single-app failures.
Restart the TV and check internet speed
- Turn off the Vizio TV.
- Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and reopen Peacock.
- Give the app 15 to 20 seconds to load.
- If playback buffers, test your internet speed on the same network.
Peacock recommends at least about 3 Mbps for standard definition, with more needed for HD or 4K. Pause other streams or downloads to test whether bandwidth congestion is causing buffering.
Update SmartCast and check Peacock status
- Press Menu on the Vizio remote.
- Go to System > Check for Updates.
- Install any SmartCast update.
- Restart the TV.
- Try Peacock on a phone or browser to see whether the service itself is down.
If Peacock fails everywhere, wait for Peacock to resolve the outage. If it works everywhere except the Vizio, the problem is local to the TV/app setup.
Account and older-model checks
If Peacock opens but video will not start, sign out inside the app settings and sign back in to refresh account authorization. If you see a specific error code, search that exact code on Peacock Help because it may point to billing, region, or account restrictions.
If Peacock is missing from the app store on an older Vizio TV, check Vizio support for your exact model. Some older SmartCast models lose support as app requirements change.
