Paramount+ crashes usually come from app memory, corrupted local data, or an outdated version. The subscription itself is rarely the cause when the app simply freezes or closes.
These steps apply to Paramount+ on Roku, Fire TV, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Apple TV, and Android TV.
Does this affect you?
Use this if Paramount+ closes on its own, freezes mid-show, crashes at the same point, or returns to the device home screen repeatedly.
Force-close and restart the device
- Exit Paramount+ with the Home button.
- Fully close the app where your device supports it.
- Unplug the TV or streaming device from power for 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and wait for it to boot.
- Open Paramount+ and try the same title.
A full power cycle clears device memory and fixes many crash loops.
Clear cache or reinstall
- Fire TV: Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Paramount+ > Clear cache. Use Clear data if needed, but expect to sign in again.
- Roku: highlight Paramount+, press Star, remove the channel, then reinstall from the Roku Channel Store.
- Samsung or LG TVs: delete or uninstall the app from the home/app screen, then reinstall from the TV app store.
- Apple TV: delete Paramount+ if your tvOS version offers the option, then reinstall from the App Store.
Clearing data or reinstalling removes corrupted local files that the app may not be able to repair by itself.
Update the app and device
- Open the device app store and search for Paramount+.
- Install any available app update.
- Check the streaming device or TV system update menu.
- Install pending device software updates.
- Restart once more and test again.
Streaming apps do not always auto-update quickly on TVs and streaming boxes, so manual checks are worthwhile.
Check limits, outages, and old devices
If the crash happens right after pressing Play, sign in at paramountplus.com and check Account > Devices. Remove devices you no longer use if the account is crowded.
Search for a current Paramount+ outage if many users report the same crash at the same time. If the app works on your phone or browser but not on an older Roku, Fire TV Stick, or smart TV, the device may not have enough memory for the current app version. A newer streaming device may be the realistic fix.
