Disney+ Not Working: How to Fix It

Disney+ can fail because of a service outage, a stuck app, a device problem, or a weak connection. Check for an outage first, especially around major releases, then restart and update the app.

Does this affect you?

Use this for Disney+ on smart TVs, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, game consoles, phones, tablets, and web browsers.

Check if Disney+ is down first

This saves time when the problem is on Disney’s side.

  1. Use a phone or computer to check an outage tracker such as Downdetector and search for Disney Plus.
  2. Check Disney+ official support or help social accounts for service alerts.
  3. If an outage is confirmed, wait 30 to 60 minutes and try again.
  4. If there is no widespread issue, continue troubleshooting your device.

Restart the app and device

A real restart clears more than simply pressing Home.

  1. Fully close Disney+ from the device app switcher or app management menu when possible.
  2. Restart the streaming stick, box, console, phone, or TV. If no restart option exists, unplug power for 10 to 30 seconds.
  3. Open Disney+ again and sign back in if asked.
  4. If it still fails, restart the router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds, then testing again after it reconnects.

Update or reinstall Disney+

Old app versions often fail after service-side changes.

  1. Open the device app store, such as App Store, Google Play, Roku Channel Store, Amazon Appstore, or the TV app store.
  2. Install any Disney+ update.
  3. If it is already up to date, uninstall Disney+, restart the device, reinstall it, and sign in again.

More control

Check speed at the device

Disney+ generally needs about 5 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K UHD. Run a speed test from the same network and area as the streaming device.

Check stream limits

Your plan may limit simultaneous streams. Sign in on the Disney+ website and review Account if someone else may be watching.

Clear cache on Android devices

On Android and Android TV, open Settings > Apps > Disney+ > Storage and choose Clear Cache. Avoid Clear Data unless you are prepared to sign in again.
