A Reddit suspension can be temporary or permanent, and the first useful clue is the notice Reddit sends to your inbox or account email. Read that reason before writing any appeal.

Use this for Reddit accounts on reddit.com or in the official iPhone or Android app when posting, commenting, voting, or login is blocked by an account suspension message.
Check the reason and appeal if needed
Your appeal should answer the exact issue Reddit named.
- Open your Reddit inbox or the email address linked to the account and find the suspension notice.
- Read the stated rule or reason, such as spam, harassment, ban evasion, or suspicious activity.
- If the suspension is temporary, note the length. Temporary suspensions commonly last 3, 7, or 30 days and reactivate automatically.
- If it is permanent, or you believe the temporary action is wrong, go to reddit.com/appeals or use the link in the notice.
- Write a specific explanation that responds to the reason given, not a general complaint. Include context that supports your case.
- Keep the tone factual and polite. A clear explanation is easier to review than an angry message.
- Submit within Reddit’s appeal window, which is generally within 6 months of the ban.

Set expectations before appealing
Many appeals are denied, and only a minority appear to result in reinstatement. Appeal if you have a genuine case, but do not assume restoration is guaranteed.
Subreddit bans are separate
A ban from one subreddit is handled by that subreddit’s moderators, usually through modmail. reddit.com/appeals is for account-wide Reddit suspensions.
Do not file duplicates
After submitting, checking the status after a few days is reasonable. Repeated appeals for the same suspension do not speed review and can make the case harder to track.
If the appeal is denied
When Reddit denies the appeal, there is usually no further review path for that account. The suspension remains in place.
