Canceling Netflix and deleting a Netflix account are not the same thing. Canceling stops billing and streaming access after the current period, while deletion removes account data more completely.
Does this affect you?
Use this for Netflix accounts managed directly by Netflix. If billing runs through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or a carrier, cancel billing through that provider.
Cancel your membership
This stops billing but keeps the account data for a return window.
- Go to netflix.com in a computer or mobile browser and sign in.
- Select the profile icon and open Account.
- Under Membership & Billing, choose Cancel Membership.
- Review any confirmation or offer screen.
- Select Finish Cancellation or the final cancel button.
- Continue watching until the current billing period ends.
Fully delete your account and personal data
Use this if you want more than canceled billing.
- Go to netflix.com/account.
- Open the Security section and choose Delete account if available, or contact Netflix Help through live chat to request account and data deletion.
- Review what deletion removes, including viewing history, ratings, My List, profile data, and recommendations.
- Confirm identity if Netflix asks.
- Confirm the deletion request.
- If deletion completes after the billing period, signing back in before that date may cancel the request.
More control
Save anything you need first
Netflix does not offer the same kind of full data export as some services. If you want a record, screenshot Viewing Activity or account details before canceling or deleting.
Check shared profiles
If family members use profiles on the account, tell them before cancellation or deletion. Their profiles and viewing history are tied to the account.
Provider billing cancels elsewhere
If the Netflix charge appears through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or a phone carrier, cancel in that provider’s subscription settings. Netflix.com cancellation may not stop outside billing.
