For most people, Zelle settings live inside the bank or credit union app, not in a separate Zelle account. To change an email or phone number, update the Zelle profile through your financial institution.

Use this for Zelle inside a participating bank or credit union app. The standalone Zelle app was retired, so bank-app access is now the normal route.
Change it through your bank or credit union app
The exact wording varies by bank, but the path is usually similar.
- Open your bank or credit union app.
- Find Zelle or Send Money with Zelle under Payments, Transfers, or Move Money.
- Open Zelle Profile, Manage contact info, Settings, or a similar option.
- Remove the outdated email address or U.S. mobile number.
- Add the new email or phone number.
- Enter the verification code sent to the new contact method.
- Allow time for the change to fully activate across the Zelle network.
If your bank or credit union does not offer Zelle
There is no longer a separate consumer app fallback.
- Search your banking app for Zelle or Send Money with Zelle.
- Check zellepay.com for participating banks and credit unions.
- If your bank supports Zelle, update contact information in that bank’s app.
- If your bank does not support Zelle, you need a participating bank or credit union to keep using Zelle with that contact method.
- Use another payment service temporarily if you need to send money before enrollment is available.

Plan for moving banks
A phone number or email removed from one Zelle enrollment may have a waiting period before it can be added elsewhere. Remove it from the old bank before enrolling it at the new one.
Check payments sent during the transition
If someone sent money to an old email or phone during the change, ask your bank to trace it. Zelle routing depends on what was enrolled when the payment was sent.
Report unauthorized transfers immediately
Zelle payments are usually difficult or impossible to reverse once sent. If the issue is unauthorized activity rather than a contact update, call your bank right away.
