Epic Games accounts are valuable because they may contain Fortnite cosmetics, V-Bucks, purchases, linked console accounts, and payment history. If something looks wrong, secure access before counting what is missing.
Does this affect you?
Use this for Epic Games accounts used with Fortnite, Rocket League, the Epic Games Store, and linked PC, console, or mobile platforms.
You can still log in: secure it immediately
Do this before the attacker changes more account details.
- Go to epicgames.com and sign in.
- Open Account > Password & Security and change the password.
- Use a long, unique password not reused on gaming or email accounts.
- Check Connected Accounts for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, or other platforms you did not add. Remove unfamiliar links.
- Open Account > General and confirm the email address is still yours.
- Check Fortnite locker, V-Bucks, purchases, and friends for missing items or activity you did not do.
You have been locked out: recover and report the compromise
Use Epic’s account-recovery process if the attacker changed credentials.
- On the Epic Games login page, choose Forgot your password.
- Enter the account email and use the reset link if it still reaches you.
- If the email was changed, open the Epic Games Help Center and find the My Account Has Been Compromised recovery form.
- Submit original account details, usernames, purchase history, and linked platform IDs to prove ownership.
- List missing V-Bucks, cosmetic items, or purchases in the same report.
- Wait for Epic support. A real agent review can take a few days.
More control
Turn on two-factor authentication
After access returns, enable two-factor authentication under Password & Security. An authenticator app or email codes make a stolen password much less useful.
Review sessions and linked devices
Sign out devices or sessions you do not recognize. Remove old platform connections you no longer use.
Avoid free V-Bucks scams
Fake V-Bucks sites and messages are a common path to Fortnite account theft. Only sign in through epicgames.com or the official game. Epic will not ask for your password by email or chat.
