An EA Account lockout and an EA Account takeover can look similar, but they need different follow-up. A lockout may only need a reset; a hack means you also need to secure the linked email, purchases, and platform connections.

Use this for EA Accounts used with the EA app, former Origin accounts, PC games, and console games on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Steam.
Reset your password or sign in through a linked platform
EA accounts may be reachable directly or through a connected platform.
- On the EA sign-in screen, choose Forgot your password.
- Check the email address on the account for EA’s reset message.
- Use the link to create a unique new password.
- If the email reset is not available, try signing in through a linked PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, Apple, Facebook, or Google account if one was connected earlier.
- After getting in through a linked account, open Account Security and set or reset the EA password.
- If the linked email is inaccessible, try to recover that email account first because EA recovery depends heavily on inbox access.
Your EA account was hacked
Secure the email first so the attacker cannot reset EA again.
- Change the EA Account password to one not used elsewhere.
- Change the password for the email account linked to EA.
- Enable two-factor protection on that email account if available.
- Check EA account details, purchases, friends, and linked platform accounts for unfamiliar changes.
- Remove platform links you do not recognize.
- Contact EA Help at help.ea.com if content, purchases, or account details are missing. Have the account email, EA ID, connected console IDs, and invoice numbers ready.
More control
Use a unique password
Gaming accounts are often hit by credential stuffing. A password leaked from another site may be tried against EA, Steam, Epic, and console accounts.
Review linked accounts regularly
EA access can flow through PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and social sign-ins. Remove old or unfamiliar connections under Account Security > Linked Accounts.
Mention missing purchases separately
If games, currency, or in-game content disappeared during the takeover, tell EA Help directly. Account recovery and purchase restoration may be handled as related but separate issues.
