Chrome tab groups collect related tabs under a colored label. Instead of hunting through a crowded tab strip, you can group research, shopping, work, travel, or project tabs and collapse the group when you do not need it.

Use this for Google Chrome on Windows, Mac, or Chromebook when you have too many open tabs and want a cleaner way to organize them.
Create a tab group
A group takes only a few seconds to make.
- Right-click the tab you want to start with.
- Choose Add Tab to New Group.
- Type a name for the group, such as Research or Shopping.
- Pick a color if you want the group to stand out.
- Add more tabs by dragging them into the colored group area, or right-clicking another tab and choosing Add Tab to Group.
Grouped tabs sit together under the colored group label, separate from the rest of your open tabs.
Collapse, rename, or close a group
Once a group exists, manage it from the label.
- Click the colored group label to collapse the group. The tabs stay open but are hidden behind the label.
- Click the label again to expand the group.
- Right-click the label to rename the group or choose another color.
- Choose Close group to close every tab inside it.
- Choose Ungroup if you want to keep the tabs open but remove the grouping.
More control
Move a whole group
Drag the group label to reorder the whole group among your tabs. You can also drag the group out to a new window.
Save a group
Right-click the group label and choose Save group if your Chrome version offers it. Saved groups can reappear from the bookmarks bar or tab search after you close Chrome.
Group many tabs at once
Hold Ctrl on Windows or Chromebook, or Cmd on Mac, and click the tabs you want. Right-click one selected tab and choose Add Tabs to New Group.
Sync saved groups
If Chrome sync is enabled, saved tab groups can appear on other computers from tab search or Chrome saved group controls.
