TP-Link Deco systems use matching mesh units managed through the Deco app. One unit connects to your modem, and the others extend the same Wi-Fi network around the home.

Use this for Deco M-series, X-series, and other TP-Link Deco mesh systems being set up from iPhone or Android.
Set up Deco from scratch
Start near the modem because the first Deco becomes the main router.
- Install the TP-Link Deco app and open it.
- Choose Create a new network, sign in or create a TP-Link ID, and select your Deco model.
- Plug the first Deco into power and connect it to the modem with Ethernet. If you have an old separate router, remove it or place it in bridge mode.
- Wait for the Deco light to show it is ready, then follow the app prompts to detect it.
- Create the Wi-Fi name and password.
- Place a satellite unit in the room you want covered, plug it into power, and tap Add Deco in the app.
- Repeat for each unit and confirm all Deco units show online in the app.
Fix a satellite that will not connect
Try these if the app cannot find a unit or the light stays amber/orange.
- Move the satellite closer to the main Deco for setup.
- Restart in order: unplug all Deco units, plug in the main unit first, wait for it to settle, then plug satellites in one at a time.
- Check More > Firmware Upgrade in the Deco app and install available updates.
- Factory reset only the problem unit by holding its reset button for about 10 seconds until the light changes.
- Add the reset unit again from the app.
More control
Place satellites between router and weak area
Do not put a satellite deep in the dead zone. It needs a good signal from the main unit or another satellite to relay well.
Use Ethernet backhaul when possible
If you can connect Deco units with Ethernet, Deco detects it automatically and uses the wire for faster, steadier backhaul.
Turn on guest network and parental controls
The Deco app More menu includes Guest Network and Parental Controls for visitor Wi-Fi, time limits, and content filters.
Watch for double NAT
If your modem is actually a modem/router gateway, Deco behind it can create double NAT. Use bridge mode on the ISP gateway or follow TP-Link guidance for Deco behind an existing router.
