HP ePrint email-to-printer addresses no longer work. HP retired the ePrint email gateway in 2023, so the current remote-printing method is Print Anywhere inside the HP Smart app.
Does this affect you?
Use this if an old guide tells you to email an @hpeprint.com address, or if you want to print to an HP printer from away from home. You need an HP printer with web services, internet access, HP Smart, and an HP account.
Set up Print Anywhere in HP Smart
Do this once while the printer is on its home network.
- Turn on the printer and connect it to Wi-Fi with internet access.
- Install HP Smart from the app store or Microsoft Store and sign in with an HP account.
- Add the printer in HP Smart while you are on the same network.
- Open the printer in HP Smart and enable Print Anywhere if the model supports it.
- Keep the printer online so cloud jobs can reach it.
Print while you are away
After setup, remote printing happens through the app instead of email.
- Open HP Smart on a phone or computer signed into the same HP account.
- Choose Print and select the document or photo.
- Select the home printer.
- Adjust print options and send the job.
- If it does not print, confirm the printer is powered on, online, and tied to the same HP account.
More control
Old ePrint addresses are obsolete
An @hpeprint.com address printed on an old information sheet does not mean the service still works. Remote jobs now route through HP Smart and the HP account.
Sharing is account based
There is no simple public email address to hand out the way ePrint offered. A family member usually needs HP Smart access through the right account or another approved sharing method.
Alternatives exist
You can also use remote desktop into a home computer, cloud documents printed from a computer at home, or same-network options such as AirPrint and Mopria when you are physically near the printer.
Printer must stay online
Print Anywhere only works while the printer is powered and has a live internet connection. Deep sleep or scheduled-off settings can prevent remote jobs.
