When a Brother printer accepts a job but nothing comes out, the cause is usually a stuck print queue, a lost Wi-Fi connection, the wrong default printer, or a driver that is not sending the job correctly. The printer control panel can also reveal paper, toner, cover, or jam problems before you touch software settings.

Clear the queue and confirm the connection
This fixes many cases without reinstalling anything.
- Check the printer lights or display. Amber or red warnings usually mean paper, toner, jam, cover, or other device-side attention is needed.
- On Windows, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the Brother printer, open the queue, and cancel stuck jobs.
- On Mac, open System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select the Brother printer, and clear any jobs in the queue.
- Confirm the Brother printer is the default printer in Windows or macOS if you have multiple printers installed.
- For Wi-Fi models, print a network configuration report from the printer and confirm it has a valid IP address on your network.
- Restart the printer, wait 20 seconds, power it back on, and send a tiny test document.
Reinstall the Brother driver
Use this when the queue is clear and the printer appears connected, but jobs still fail or vanish.
- On Windows, remove the printer from Printers & scanners.
- Go to Brother Support, enter the exact model number from the printer front or label, and download the full driver and software package for your operating system.
- Disconnect USB if prompted, run the installer, and choose the correct USB or wireless setup path.
- After installation, print a test page from printer properties on Windows or the print queue menu on Mac.
