Extreme Battery Saver is a Pixel feature for stretching the last part of a charge. It goes beyond normal Battery Saver by pausing most apps and allowing only essentials plus the apps you choose.
These steps apply to Google Pixel phones running Android 12 and later. Other Android brands may not have this exact feature.

Use this if regular Battery Saver is not enough and you need calls, texts, navigation, or one important app to keep working until you reach a charger.
Turn On Extreme Battery Saver
- Open Settings > Battery.
- Tap Battery Saver.
- Open Extreme Battery Saver.
- Turn it on and confirm the warning.
The phone may dim the screen, reduce performance, pause most background sync, and show only essential apps depending on Pixel model and Android version.
Choose Apps That Stay Active
- Open Extreme Battery Saver settings.
- Tap Active apps or Apps that can run.
- Enable only the apps you truly need, such as Maps, a messaging app, or a travel app.
- Leave the rest paused for maximum savings.
Use Automatic Extreme Battery Saver
Pixel can suggest or enable Extreme Battery Saver automatically at low battery levels. Open Battery Saver settings and look for the automatic Extreme Battery Saver trigger or percentage controls.
What Still Works
Phone calls, texts, and allowed apps continue working. Most other apps stop refreshing in the background until you open them manually, turn off Extreme Battery Saver, or plug in.
Extreme Battery Saver vs Airplane Mode
Extreme Battery Saver keeps cellular service available for calls and texts. Airplane Mode shuts wireless radios off. If you do not need to be reachable, combining careful radio use, low brightness, and Extreme Battery Saver can stretch power further.
