Bixby can open from the Side key, a voice wake phrase, an older Bixby key, or a Home Screen panel. You usually cannot remove every Bixby component, but you can turn off the triggers that make it appear by accident.
These steps apply to Samsung Galaxy phones with recent One UI versions. Exact wording can vary slightly by model.
Does This Affect You?
Use this if Bixby opens when you hold the Side key, say something that sounds like Hi Bixby, or swipe left from the Home Screen.
Stop the Side Button from Opening Bixby
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features.
- Tap Side button or Side key.
- Under Press and hold, choose Power off menu instead of Wake Bixby.
- If Double press is set to Bixby, change it to Camera or another app.
Turn Off Bixby Voice Wake-Up
- Open the Bixby app or search for Bixby.
- Open the menu and tap Settings.
- Tap Voice wake-up.
- Turn off Wake with Hi, Bixby.
Bixby will stop listening for its wake phrase, though you can still open it manually if you want to.
Remove the Bixby Panel
- Touch and hold an empty space on the Home Screen.
- Swipe to the leftmost panel.
- Turn off the Bixby, Samsung Daily, or Samsung Free panel switch if shown.
- Tap Done or return Home.
Extra Bixby Notes
Uninstalling Is Usually Not Available
Bixby is a system app on many Galaxy phones. In Settings > Apps, you may see Disable on some models or only Uninstall updates on others.
Routines Are Separate
Bixby Routines or Modes and Routines may still run automations in the background. Turning off the assistant triggers does not delete routines you created.
Hide the Icon
If an app icon remains, hide it from Home Screen settings or place it in a folder. That only hides the shortcut; it does not uninstall the service.
