Edge Panels add a small handle to the side of a Samsung Galaxy screen. Swipe it inward to reveal app shortcuts, contacts, tasks, smart selection tools, and other quick panels.
These steps apply to Samsung Galaxy phones running One UI. Edge Panels are a Samsung feature and are not available on every Android brand.
Does This Affect You?
Use this if you see the side handle and want to make it useful, or if you want to move, hide, customize, or turn off the feature completely.
Open and Use Edge Panels
- Look for the thin handle on the left or right edge of the screen.
- Swipe inward from the handle toward the center.
- Tap an app, contact, or tool in the panel.
- Swipe left or right inside the open panel to switch panel types.
- Tap outside the panel or swipe it back to the edge to close it.
Customize the Panels
- Open Settings > Display.
- Tap Edge panels.
- Turn individual panels on or off, such as Apps, People, Tasks, or Smart select.
- Tap a panel name to edit its contents.
- For Apps edge, use the edit pencil to add apps, remove apps, or create folders.
- Drag panels to reorder them if your One UI version supports it.
Move the Handle or Turn Edge Panels Off
- Go to Settings > Display > Edge panels.
- Tap Handle.
- Drag the handle position up or down.
- Adjust length, transparency, or side if those controls appear.
- To disable the feature, turn off the master Edge panels switch.
Extra Edge Panel Notes
Get More Panels
Samsung offers additional panels through the Galaxy Store, including weather, music, utilities, and smart home options. Use Get more panels from Edge panel settings when available.
If the Handle Is Missing
Check that Edge panels are enabled under Display settings. If the switch is on and the handle still does not appear, restart the phone.
Move It Away from Busy Edges
If the handle interferes with typing, gaming, or app gestures, move it toward the top or bottom instead of disabling it outright.
