A Roku with no light, no logo, and no response is different from a frozen Roku. A frozen Roku is powered but stuck. A Roku that will not turn on usually has a power, adapter, outlet, or signal problem.
These steps apply to Roku TVs and Roku streaming devices, including Express, Streaming Stick, and Ultra.

Use this if the Roku shows no indicator light, no image, and no reaction when you press remote buttons or power.
Check the power source
- Check how the Roku is powered.
- For Roku Streaming Stick or Express, use the included wall adapter and USB cable when possible.
- If the Roku is powered from the TV’s USB port, move it to the wall adapter.
- Test the outlet with a lamp or phone charger.
- For a Roku TV, confirm the power cable is seated and the power strip is not tripped.
- Wait 30 seconds after connecting to a working outlet.
Many TV USB ports do not supply stable power for streaming devices. Underpowered Roku sticks can look dead or restart repeatedly.
Use the physical reset button
- Find the recessed reset button on the Roku device or Roku TV.
- Leave the device plugged into power.
- Press and hold the reset button for about 20 seconds with a paperclip if needed.
- Release and wait a minute or two for startup.
- If nothing happens, unplug power for 60 seconds and try again.
This can clear a stuck boot state that a quick unplug does not fix.
Rule out HDMI input and cable
- Try a different HDMI port on the TV.
- Use an HDMI extender if a Roku stick is cramped or poorly seated behind the TV.
- Make sure the TV is set to the correct HDMI input.
- For Roku Ultra or box models, try another HDMI cable.
If the Roku light is on but the TV shows nothing, the problem has moved from power to HDMI signal or input selection.
When replacement is likely
Try another compatible power adapter with the same output rating if available. On Roku TVs, disconnect other HDMI-CEC devices such as soundbars or receivers to test whether power control is interfering.
If a confirmed working outlet, proper adapter, reset, and HDMI test still produce no light or response, the device’s internal power circuitry may have failed. For most Roku streaming players, replacement is usually more practical than repair.
