Chrome remembers whether you allowed or blocked a website from using features such as camera, microphone, location, notifications, pop-ups, clipboard, and automatic downloads. Resetting permissions makes Chrome forget that decision so the site can ask again.

Use this for Chrome on Windows, Mac, or Chromebook when a site is blocked from using a feature because of an old permission choice, or when you want to clean up site permissions after allowing too much.
Reset permissions for one specific site
This is the safest option because it affects only the site you are viewing.
- Open the site in Chrome.
- Click the icon to the left of the address, such as a lock, tune/sliders icon, or information icon.
- Open Site settings or Permissions for this site.
- Click Reset permissions near the top if available.
- Reload the page.
- Use the normal Allow or Block prompt when the site asks again.
Reset permissions for many sites
Use this when you want a broader cleanup.
- Click the three-dot menu and open Settings.
- Choose Privacy and security.
- Open Site settings.
- Open the permission category you want, such as Location, Camera, Microphone, or Notifications.
- Remove sites from Allowed or Blocked with the trash icon or three-dot menu.
- Repeat for other permission categories as needed.
More control
Reset usually means Ask again
Resetting a permission does not automatically block the site. It returns the site to Chrome default behavior, which is usually to ask the next time that feature is needed.
Permissions are separate from cookies
Resetting camera, microphone, location, notifications, or pop-ups does not sign you out and does not delete saved passwords, cookies, or browsing history.
Managed permissions may be locked
If a permission says it is managed by your organization, a work or school policy controls it. The normal Chrome settings page cannot override that.
