Pluto TV Not Working? How to Fix It

Pluto TV is free and ad-supported, but it can still run into ordinary streaming problems: channels fail to load, video freezes, audio plays without video, or the app sits on a black screen.

Most Pluto TV issues come from a stuck app session, weak network connection, corrupted app data, or a temporary problem with one Pluto channel feed.

Does this affect you?

Use this if Pluto TV will not load or play on Roku, Fire TV, Samsung or LG smart TVs, Apple TV, Android TV, or similar devices.

Restart Pluto TV and the device

  1. Press Home to exit Pluto TV.
  2. Fully close the app on devices that support recent-app/app-closing controls.
  3. Unplug the TV or streaming device from power for 30 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and wait for startup.
  5. Open Pluto TV and try the channel again.

This clears the frozen memory state behind many endless loading screens.

Check internet connection

  • Open Settings > Network on the device.
  • Confirm it is connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  • Run a connection test if the platform offers one.
  • Move the router closer or use Ethernet if buffering is frequent.
  • Restart the router by unplugging it for one minute.
  • If other streaming apps buffer too, the network is the issue.

Clear cache or reinstall Pluto TV

  • Roku: remove Pluto TV with Star > Remove channel, then reinstall from Streaming Channels.
  • Fire TV: Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Pluto TV > Clear cache, or uninstall and reinstall.
  • Samsung/LG TVs: delete or uninstall Pluto TV, then reinstall from the TV app store.

A reinstall replaces corrupted app files. Pluto TV does not require an account for most content, but signing in again may restore favorites if you use a free account.

Check feeds, outages, and updates

If only one live channel fails, switch to another live channel or an on-demand title. One Pluto feed can be down while the rest of the service works.

Search for Pluto TV outage reports before spending too long troubleshooting. Also update the Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or smart TV operating system because outdated device software can break app compatibility.

If Pluto has audio without video, or video without audio, reinstalling the app is usually the best fix after restarting.
