Motorola cable modems and modem-router combos have a local status page that can work even when internet access is down. It is useful for checking signal levels, connection state, and, on combo models, Wi-Fi settings.
Does this affect you?
Use this for Motorola MB and MG series cable modems and modem/router combos, including Motorola-branded and closely related models.
Log in through a browser
Use a device connected to the modem network.
- Connect by Ethernet or to the modem Wi-Fi if it is a combo unit.
- Open a browser and go to 192.168.100.1. Some combo models also answer at 192.168.0.1.
- If asked for credentials, try username admin and password motorola.
- If that fails, check the label for a unique login or admin password.
- After login, use Status, Connection, Wireless, or similar tabs to check signal, connected devices, and settings.
If the page does not load, confirm you are connected to the Motorola network and not another router, old Wi-Fi, or cellular data.
Log in through MotoSync
The app is easier for basic combo-unit settings.
- Install MotoSync+ or the legacy Motosync app named on your modem label or box.
- Connect your phone to the modem Wi-Fi network.
- Open the app and let it detect the Motorola device.
- Sign in with the same admin credentials if prompted.
- Use the app to view devices, run basic checks, and change simple Wi-Fi settings on supported models.
More control
Newer units may use unique passwords
Many models no longer rely only on admin/motorola. Look for Login, Admin Password, serial number, and MAC address details on the device label.
Forgotten custom passwords require reset
Hold the recessed Reset button for about 10 to 15 seconds until lights cycle. This restores defaults and erases custom Wi-Fi settings on combo units.
Modem-only units do not manage Wi-Fi
If your Motorola box has no built-in Wi-Fi, its admin page shows signal and connection data. Wireless settings live on the separate router.
Restart if the admin page times out
Unplug the modem for about 30 seconds, reconnect, and wait for solid lights. Also try connecting directly instead of through another router.
