Minecraft Realms is Mojang’s paid hosted server service. When it fails, the cause is usually subscription status, wrong account, invite problems, Java and Bedrock confusion, a world error, or a temporary Mojang service issue.
These steps apply to Minecraft Realms and Realms Plus on Java Edition and Bedrock Edition across PC, console, and mobile.

Use this if a Realm will not load, an invite never appears, or a paid world shows unavailable even though it should be active.
Check subscription, account, and Realm type
- On Java, check your Minecraft account page at minecraft.net for My Subscriptions.
- On Bedrock, check the Realms tab for days remaining.
- Make sure you are signed into the account that owns the Realm or was invited.
- Confirm whether the Realm is Java or Bedrock.
- Fully close and reopen Minecraft after a renewal or new invite.
Java Realms can only be joined from Java Edition. Bedrock Realms can only be joined from Bedrock platforms such as consoles, mobile, and Microsoft Store PC.
Fix an invite that does not work
- As the owner, open Realms settings.
- Go to Players.
- Choose Invite Player.
- Enter the exact Java username, Gamertag, or friend code required by that edition.
- Ask the friend to check the Invites area under the Realms tab.
- Remove and resend the invite if it appears stuck.
- Check whether the Realm has reached its player seat limit.
A tiny username typo is one of the most common reasons a Realms invite never reaches the right player.
Fix a Realm that will not load
- Give a Realm marked Starting a few minutes, especially if the world is large or unused for a while.
- Write down any exact error code and search it on the Minecraft Help Centre.
- Open Realms Settings > World > Backups if the world file may be corrupted.
- Restore a backup from before the issue started if needed.
- Check Mojang status if multiple Realms appear unavailable.
Realms keeps automatic backups. Downloading a local copy occasionally is a good extra safety net.
Realms Plus and permissions
Realms Plus adds marketplace content but does not change server performance or player capacity in the way many people expect.
As the owner, review Players settings for member, operator, visitor, and build permissions before inviting a larger group.
If you cancel, Mojang usually keeps world data for a grace period, but download a backup before relying on that.
