How to Sign Out of a Streaming App on TCL TV

TV and streaming troubleshooting category image

TCL TVs run different smart TV systems depending on the model. Some use Roku TV, while others use Google TV. Signing out of streaming apps is different on each platform.

Start by checking which home screen your TCL TV uses. Roku has channels and a Roku-style left menu. Google TV has Google account/profile features and the Google TV home interface.

Does this affect you?

Use this if you want to switch streaming accounts, lend the TV, sell it, or remove personal app logins from a TCL TV.

Sign out on TCL Roku TV

On Roku TV, many apps do not expose a system-wide sign-out. Check inside the app first, then remove the channel if needed.

  1. From the Roku TV home screen, highlight the streaming app or channel.
  2. Press the Star button on the Roku remote.
  3. Look for app options. If there is no sign-out option, choose Remove channel.
  4. Reinstall the channel later if you want to use it with a different account.
  5. For apps like Netflix that include their own sign-out menu, open the app and check Settings, Account, or Help before removing it.

To unlink the Roku account from the TV without wiping everything, sign in at my.roku.com, open linked devices, and remove the TV. A factory reset is the on-device way to wipe the Roku account and all apps.

Sign out on TCL Google TV

  1. Open the streaming app from the Google TV home screen.
  2. Go to that app’s Settings, Account, Profile, or Help menu.
  3. Choose Sign Out or Log Out.
  4. If the app has no visible sign-out option, open TV Settings > Accounts & sign-in and remove the linked account if it appears there.
  5. To remove the main Google TV account, go to Settings > Accounts & sign-in, select the Google account, and choose Remove account.

Google TV app sign-ins are usually handled inside each app, while the Google account controls the TV’s system-level personalization and Play Store access.

Before selling or giving away the TV

Streaming app logins are separate. Signing out of one app does not sign out of the others. If the TV is leaving your home, a factory reset is more thorough than visiting every app one by one.

On TCL Roku TV, use Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Factory reset. On TCL Google TV, use Settings > System > Reset > Factory reset. This erases apps, accounts, Wi-Fi, and personal settings.

Switching profiles inside Netflix or another app is not the same as signing out. Use Switch Profile only when you want a different profile under the same account.
