Homepage can mean different things depending on the browser. It may be the page opened by a Home button, the page shown in a new tab, or the page that loads when the browser starts. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari all support homepage control, but the setting lives in different places.

Set your homepage in Chrome
Chrome separates the Home button from startup pages.
- Open Chrome Settings from the three-dot menu.
- Choose Appearance.
- Turn on Show home button.
- Choose Enter custom web address and enter the page you want.
- To open that page at launch, go to Settings > On startup.
- Choose Open a specific page or set of pages and add the same address.
The Appearance setting controls the Home button. The On startup setting controls what opens when Chrome launches.
Set your homepage in Microsoft Edge
Edge places home and startup controls together.
- Open Edge Settings.
- Choose Start, home, and new tabs.
- Under Home button, enable the button and enter a specific page.
- Under When Edge starts, choose Open these pages and add the page if you want it at launch.
Set your homepage in Firefox
Firefox controls homepage from the Home settings page.
- Open Firefox Settings.
- Choose Home.
- Under Homepage and new windows, choose Custom URLs.
- Enter the page address and click away to save.
Set your homepage in Safari
Safari homepage settings are on the General tab.
- Open Safari > Settings.
- Choose General.
- Enter the page address in Homepage.
- Set New windows open with to Homepage if you want Safari to use it for new windows.
More control
Settings may not sync everywhere
Browser accounts often sync bookmarks and passwords more reliably than homepage behavior. Repeat the setup on each computer if the homepage does not follow you automatically.
New tab pages may be separate
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari can treat new tabs separately from home or startup pages. Check the new tab setting if clicking plus still shows something different.
